East Singapore

Away from the main city centre of Singapore, there is still plenty of sites to see and places to explore. The most notable is surely the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari located in the ideal spot near the centre of the untouched part of the island. The Jurong Bird Park is also a huge attraction for animal lovers, while the Botanic Gardens are a beautiful park to walk around - particularly famous for its orchids. For an alternative view of animals head to Singapore Turf Club for the races.
In Jurong, to the west of the island, is the Singapore Science Centre, which educates its visitors about scientific and technological developments. Right next door is Singapore's Snow City - a place to ski in the tropics! For those interested in Chinese folklore, be sure to check out Haw Par Villa - a theme park which aims to teach traditional Chinese values, but uses innovative ways to do so.
There are several remnants to Singapore's role during World War II with the secret tunnels in Labrador Park, as well as the museum at the Old Ford Motor Factory. The biggest temple in Singapore can be found at Kong Meng San Phor Kark See.
