National Day Parade

The National Day Parade is held annually on August 9th, celebrating the anniversary of Singapore's independence from Malaysia in 1965. Unsurprisingly the National Day Parade is held on the Singapore's National Day, and celebrations normally focus at the National Stadium, but often events are staged in front of the Esplanade on the The Float at Marina Bay. Historically the event was centred on the Padang, where independence was declared, but the venue changes due to the vast numbers of people taking part in the parade.
The National Day Parade features many of Singapore's civil services, and includes a flypast by the Singapore Air force. Often there is a theme to the parade celebrating some part of Singapore's culture and potential.
