Fort Canning Park

Fort Canning Park is centrally located, a small hill originally known as forbidden hill, as historically it was a focal point of the island's rule. Given the dominance of it's position it was made into a fort and in early days the seat of government. It was used as a command post during World War II and also as a military point by the Japanese during their subsequent occupation. Now the park is a central patch of greenery with plenty of interesting features, from spice gardens to military barracks. It is also the home of Battle Box significant underground bunkers used during the wars.
